Abstract

The problems in this study include 1) there are still many students who get low scores in the economics learning process, 2) there are still many students who experience difficulties in accepting and understanding economics lessons and 3) the models used in economics learning are less effective and lack of cultivating student interest. This study aims to increase the activity and learning outcomes of class XI IPS students at SMAN 1 Candipuro through the group investigation (GI) cooperative learning model in the subject of Economics. This type of research is classroom action research which consists of two cycles. Research procedures include planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The subjects in this study were class XI IPS 1 of SMAN 1 Candipuro with a total of 26 students. Data collection techniques in this study used observation, tests and documentation. The results showed that the average score of students' learning activities increased from an average of 7.34 (active enough) in cycle I to 7.89 (active) in cycle II. Student learning outcomes increased in the first cycle, the percentage was 61.54% and the second cycle was 84.62%. From these results it can be explained that the use of the group investigation (GI) cooperative learning model can increase the activity and economic learning outcomes of students in class XI IPS 1 SMAN 1 Candipuro in the academic year 2022/2023.
