Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the intensity of social media use (Instagram, TikTok, and WhatsApp) and learning discipline among 8th-grade students at SMPN Satu Atap 3 Kalianda in the 2024/2025 academic year. The research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational method. A total of 31 students from class VIII A were selected as the sample using total sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires based on the Guttman scale and analyzed using Chi-Square tests and contingency coefficients. The results showed a significant relationship between the intensity of social media use and students’ learning discipline (significance value = 0.015). The contingency coefficient of 0.461 indicates a moderate relationship with a negative direction. Thus, the higher the intensity of social media use, the lower the students’ learning discipline.
