MENINGKATKAN KOMUNIKASI INTERPERSONAL PESERTA DIDIK KELAS VIII SEMESTER GENAP SMP NEGERI 10 BANDAR LAMPUNG TAHUN PELAJARAN 2024/2025

This research is based on observations during the pre-research activities, which revealed that students at SMP Negeri 10 Bandar Lampung lacked the ability to engage in interpersonal communication with their teachers, school staff, and peers. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of peer counseling using the shaping technique to improve the interpersonal communication of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 10 Bandar Lampung in the 2024/2025 academic year. The method used in this study is the experimental method. The population consists of eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 10 Bandar Lampung, with a sample of 16 students. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires as the main method, along with interviews, documentation, and observation sheets as complementary methods. Data analysis employed the t-test statistical analysis as proposed by Sudjana. The hypothesis testing results at a 5% significance level showed that ????ₕᵢₜ = 5.76 > ????????ₐ???? = 2.14, and at a 1% significance level, ????ₕᵢₜ = 5.76 > ????????ₐ???? = 2.98. This indicates a significant difference in students’ interpersonal communication between those who received the shaping technique and those who did not. The average interpersonal communication score of students who received the shaping technique was 67.5, while that of students who did not receive the technique was 58.37. Therefore, the difference is clearly observable in the score gap achieved by the students. Thus, the shaping technique has a significant effect on the interpersonal communication of eighth-grade students in the even semester of SMP Negeri 10 Bandar Lampung for the 2024/2025 academic year.
