Abstract

The problem studied in this study was the low mathematics learning outcomes of fifth grade students at SD Negeri 1 Garuntang. This study aims to determine and describe the increase in student learning outcomes through the STAD type cooperative learning model. This study uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method which has four stages, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The subjects in this study were VA class students at SD Negeri 1 Garuntang as many as 29 students, 18 male students and 11 female students. The data collection technique used is observation of student activities, documentation, and tests. Using qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques. The results showed (1) student activity in cycle I obtained a percentage of 65.57% (good) in cycle II obtained a percentage of 87.28% (very good) with an increase of 21.71% and (2) learning outcomes in mathematics cycle I was 62.07% and in cycle II obtained mastery of 89.66% with an increase of 27.59%. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the use of the STAD type cooperative learning model in improving student learning outcomes on geometric materials in learning mathematics for class V SD Negeri 1 Garuntang.
