Abstract

This study aims to determine the cooperative model of the talking stick type can increase the activity and learning outcomes of social studies class V.A students at SD Negeri 2 Gedong Air because the learning process at SDN 2 Gedong Air has not maximized learning resources and is still fixated on textbooks, learning models are less varied ( monotonous strategies and methods)), such as direct learning strategies and lecture methods, as well as in delivering material limited to what is stated in the textbook. So that students feel bored when the teaching and learning process takes place and cause a lack of interest in student learning. Students are also fairly passive and less active tend to be silent and no one asks or answers questions in the question and answer session. This study also aims to describe the use of the talking stick type of cooperative learning model to increase student activity and learning outcomes in Social Studies learning in class V.A SD Ngeri 2 Gedong Air. This study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method. The subjects in this study were 28 students in class V.A, 13 male students and 15 female students. Data collection techniques used are non-test (interviews, observation, documentation) and tests (evaluation tests). The results of this study were social studies learning activities in the first cycle of 58.57% in the (quite active) category, while in the second cycle it increased by 83.57% in the (very active) category. Student learning outcomes in cycle I amounted to 71.25% (16 students completed), in cycle II it increased by 82.14% (23 students completed). Thus the Talking Stick cooperative learning model can increase the activities and learning outcomes of social studies class V.A students at SD Negeri 2 Gedong Air.
