Abstract

The problems in this study were 1) low learning outcomes, 2) lack of social studies subject matter reading material given to students, 3) students seemed less active in finding information about subject matter, 4) students were less courageous in asking about material they had not understood and 5) in group learning students are less able to work together. This study aims to determine the increase in social studies learning activities and outcomes after being taught using learning starts with a question learning strategies. This type of research is classroom action research in which there are two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The subjects in this study were 28 students of grade IVB SDN 1 Tanjung Agung Bandar Lampung. Data collection techniques in this study were observation sheets, test questions and documentation. Based on the results of this study showed an increase in social studies activity and learning outcomes for class IVB SDN 1 Tanjung Agung Bandar Lampung, this can be seen from an increase in 1) teacher activity in cycle I of 68.06%, while in cycle II it increased by 88, 89% where the increase was 20.83%. 2) student learning activity in cycle I was 65.28%, while in cycle II it increased by 86.11% where the increase was 20.83%, 3) student learning outcomes in cycle I was 60.71% and then increased in cycle II of 89.29% where the increase was 28.58%. Based on the results of this study, it can be interpreted that learning by applying learning starts with a question learning strategies can increase the activity and learning outcomes of social studies class IV students at SDN 1 Tanjung Agung Bandar Lampung.
