Abstract

This study aims to increase students' motivation and learning outcomes by using teaching aids for fifth grade students of SD Negeri 2 Gedong Tataan on the material of building blocks and cubes. This is motivated by motivational problems such as students not daring to answer the teacher's questions, no encouragement for student learning, not being able to solve properly and correctly, giving up easily and not being diligent in learning and low student learning. This research was conducted using a class action research method which was conducted in class V of SD Negeri 2 Gedong Tataan with a total of 25 students. Actions taken by applying teaching aids in learning mathematics and subject blocks. This research was conducted in two cycles. Based on the results obtained during the implementation of classroom action research, it can be explained that the results of increasing student motivation and learning outcomes from the pre-cycle are still low or have not reached the KKM. Only 6 students reached the KKM. In the first cycle, after applying the use of teaching aids to the learning process, the average increase to 70 has reached the KKM but still the medium criteria and student learning completeness reaches 60% but has not reached 75%, then proceed to cycle II. In the second cycle the average grade of 90 has reached good criteria and complete learning has reached 88%, exceeding the minimum completeness criteria of 75%. Meanwhile, in increasing students' learning motivation in the first cycle, it reached an average value of 70% and in the second cycle it reached 91%. In the second cycle, it has reached completeness with completeness reaching 75%. Based on this, it can be said that the use of teaching aids can increase the motivation and learning outcomes of fourth grade mathematics students at SD Negeri 2 Gedong Tataan.
