Abstract

This study aims to describe the character level of students before and after being given group guidance with self-management techniques and to find out the effectiveness of group guidance with self-management techniques to increase student learning independence. The research method used in this research is Guidance and Counseling Action Research (PTBK). The research design used contains the stages of planning, implementing actions and observing, and reflecting. The data collection instrument used was a questionnaire to measure student character. The type of data analysis used is qualitative and quantitative data analysis. Based on the results of data analysis in this study, it can be concluded that group guidance services using self-management techniques can improve the independent character of Grade VIII students at SMP Dwipa Karya Mandiri Tulang Bawang before being given group guidance using self-management techniques, it was found that 6 students still tended to be low. In cycle I, 66.67% were included in the low category and 33.33 were included in the medium category. Whereas in cycle II it achieved a result of 83.34% with success criteria where 5 out of 6 students showed a change.
