Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of mathematics in class II students at SD N Semana. The objectives of this study are: to identify and describe the application of the Talking Stick learning model to improve mathematics learning outcomes for second grade students at SD Negeri Semana. The research method used is classroom action research with 4 stages, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects are second grade students at SD N Semana for the academic year 2021/2022 with a total of 13 students, including 8 girls and 5 boys. The data collection technique uses test, observation, and documentation techniques. The results of the study: after the first cycle of action, the percentage of students' completeness reached 61.53% or 8 students whose scores were complete. While students who have not completed as many as 5 or 38.46%. After the second cycle of action, the percentage of students' completeness rose to 84.67% or 11 students whose scores were complete, while the rest were still incomplete. Teacher activity in the first cycle got a score of 42 out of a maximum score of 60 with a percentage of 70% which was categorized as good, while in the second cycle the teacher's activity got a score of 57 from a maximum score of 60 with a percentage of 95% which was categorized as very good. The activities of students in the first cycle got a score of 26 out of a maximum score of 40 with a percentage of 65% which was categorized as sufficient, while in the second cycle they got a score of 33 out of a maximum score of 40 with a percentage of 82.5% which was categorized as good. Based on the data above, the application of the talking stick type cooperative learning model can improve student learning outcomes in class II mathematics at Semana State Elementary School in the 2021/2022 academic year.
