Abstract

The problems in this study are 1) low learning outcomes, 2) low student interest in learning, 3) there are still many passive students and 4) the use of learning models that are less varied. This study aims to determine the application of the talking stick learning model in increasing students' interest and learning outcomes in economics subjects for class X IPS 4 SMA Negeri 1 Natar. This type of research is class action research which consists of two cycles where each cycle is carried out in three meetings. The procedures in this study include planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The subjects in this study were 33 students of class X IPS 4 SMA Negeri 1 Natar. Data collection techniques were carried out by questionnaires, observations, tests and documentation. From the results of the study showed that the percentage of student interest in learning increased from the first cycle of 69.30% to 81.33% in the second cycle where an increase of 27.27% was obtained. Student learning outcomes also increased where in the first cycle the percentage was 60.61% and the second cycle was 87.88%, where an increase in the percentage of mastery learning from cycle I to cycle II was 27.27%. From these results it can be concluded that learning by applying the talking stick learning model can increase students' interest in learning economics in class X IPS 4 SMA Negeri 1 Natar.
