Abstract

Fable is a type of old fiction prose in which it tells about the life of animals that seem to behave like humans, also in fable stories include human elements in the story. The material about fable texts is found at the level of Junior High School class VII even semester. This research was conducted in the 2020/2021 academic year. The research location is at SMP Negeri 18 Bandar Lampung, with a total sample of 29, but due to the constraints that have existed so far due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the data collected is 23 samples. This study aims to determine the ability of students to paraphrase fable stories into drama scripts for seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 18 Bandar Lampung. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative approach. The results of this study can be as follows. Based on the suitability and flow of the drama script students are said to be lacking. In writing drama dialogue scripts, students' abilities are said to be very lacking. For the description of the character, the students' abilities can be said to be good. In the aspect of turnover, the student's ability is said to be lacking, while for the aspect of language style, the student's ability is said to be lacking. Mastery of students in understanding paraphrasing into drama scripts is very important in writing student drama scripts, by understanding each part of paraphrasing fable stories into drama scripts. So, the purpose of learning the drama script based on this fable story can be channeled properly.
