Abstract

The main problem in this research is related to the low student learning outcomes in science subjects. One of the learning efforts that can be done to improve science learning outcomes is to apply the STAD type cooperative learning model. This study aims to improve science learning outcomes for fourth grade students of SD Negeri 2 Sedayu by applying the STAD type cooperative learning model. The type of research conducted is classroom action research (CAR) which is carried out in two cycles. The subjects of this study were all fourth grade students of SD Negeri 2 Sedayu, totaling 19 students. Data collection techniques used are observation, tests and documentation. The data analysis technique used is descriptive quantitative and qualitative. The indicator of success in this study is if the mastery of science learning outcomes reaches 80% of the total number of students. The results showed that in the science learning process after applying the STAD type cooperative learning model from cycle I to cycle II, the learning outcomes increased. From the average score of students as a whole has increased from 66.58 pre-cycle, in the first cycle of 72.11 and in the second cycle of 76.84. Then the completeness of student learning outcomes also increased from the pre-cycle of 47.37%, in the first cycle of 68.42% and in the second cycle of 89.47%. From these results it can be concluded that the use of the STAD type cooperative learning model can improve science learning outcomes in class IV SDN 2 Sedayu Semaka Tanggamus.
