Abstract

This research is motivated by several problems that occur in the learning activities of SD Negeri 2 Gedong Air, so that the learning outcomes obtained by students have not reached the KKM that has been set. Based on observations, it is known that the low understanding of students, especially in learning science, is caused by the lack of meaning in the learning process, besides that student learning activities are low during learning, when the teacher explains that many of them do not pay attention and are busy with their respective activities. Based on the problems found, the researchers used the light properties of the box media in science learning the material properties of light to improve science learning outcomes for fourth grade students. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subjects of this study were students of class IV D. The research was carried out for 2 cycles with 4 meetings. Data collection techniques using tests and observations. The results of this study indicate that the average student learning activity in the first cycle is 6.97 and in the second cycle has increased to 8.33. For learning outcomes, students in the first cycle reached an average grade of 65 and the percentage of completeness was 54,16% and in the second cycle the average grade of the classes increased to 81.87 and the percentage of completeness reached 83.3%. In the second cycle, it has reached the specified completeness, which is 70% of students who reach the KKM. Based on this, it can be concluded that the use of light box media can improve the learning outcomes of fourth grade students of SD Negeri 2 Gedong Air.
