Abstract

This research is motivated by the need to improve reading skills in fourth grade students at SDN 2 Bantan, students are less active in capturing the lessons given by the teacher in the learning process, students do not understand the reading content of story texts in Indonesian language learning, the teacher's model or method used less creative and innovative in class IV SDN 2 Bantan students. The purpose of this study is to analyze how the implementation of learning using the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) Learning Model for fourth grade students at SDN 2 Bantan in the 2021/2022 academic year. Then analyze how the reading ability of fourth grade students at SDN 2 Bantan in the 2021/2022 academic year uses the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) Learning Model. This research uses Classroom Action Research (CAR) which is carried out in two cycles, each cycle consists of 4 stages, namely: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subject of the study focused on students of class IV A with a total of 20 students. The results of increasing students' reading abilities can be seen from learning outcomes and increasing student learning activities. Student learning outcomes have increased, namely in the first cycle 70% and the second cycle increased to 78.5%, then for student learning activities also increased, namely in the first cycle 51.04% and in the second cycle increased to 76.25% . Based on these results, it shows that "There is an increase in the reading ability of fourth grade students at SD N 2 Bantan for the 2021/2022 academic year with the application of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model"
