Abstract

The problem in this study is related to the not yet optimal mathematical problem solving ability of students. Therefore, the purpose of the study was to find out the difference in average mathematical problem solving skills using the Jigsaw Cooperative Model and those using the Conventional model for the eighth grade students of the Odd semester of UPT SMP Negeri 2 Pagelaran in the 2021/2022 academic year. The study used experimental methods, as well as data analysis using parametric statistics in the form of t-test. The research population was all students of UPT SMP Negeri 2 Pagelaran which consisted of 4 classes with a total of 116 students, while the sample was taken 2 classes, namely class VIII B as the experimental class which amounted to 32, and class VIII A as the control class which amounted to 32. The sample was taken using the Cluster Random Sampling technique. Students' mathematical problem solving ability is measured by a test in the form of an essay as many as five questions which have been tested for validity and reliability. From the results of hypothesis testing using the statistical formula t-test, the value t = 6,14 is obtained. From the distribution table of t at a significant level of 5%, it is known that t t =  = 20 means that t > t yaitu 6,14 > 2,00, so it can be concluded that "There is an influence of the Jigsaw Cooperative model on the Mathematics Problem Solving Ability of Class VIII Odd Semesters. UPT SMP Negeri 2 Performance for the academic year 2021/2022. This situation is also seen from the average value of students' mathematical problem solving abilities where the experimental class has an average value of 79.25 which is higher than the control class which has an average value of 63.72.
