Abstract

The problem in the research is related to the students' mathematical problem solving ability. This study aims to analyze the effect of using the Problem Based Learning model using problem cards on mathematical problem solving abilities. This research is an experimental study with a population of all 7th grade students, totaling 338 students. The research sample is class VII J as the experimental class and VII K as the control class. The sample was determined by using the Cluster Random Sampling technique. Problem solving ability is measured by a test of 5 questions that have been tested for validity and reliability. Hypothesis testing using t test. The results showed that thit = 2.22 with tdaf = 1.67 at a significant level of 5%. This means that thit > tdaf which indicates that the average mathematical problem solving ability of students through the use of Problem Based Learning models using problem cards is higher than those using the conventional model, with an average of 79.5 > 71.8. Thus there is an effect of using the Problem Based Learning model using problem cards on mathematical problem solving abilities.
