Audio-visual media is a medium that displays images and sounds in its application in the form of video, so that in the learning process it utilizes the use of hardware so that the learning process is more interesting and not boring. This study examines problems related to the ability to solve mathematical problems for grade VIII students of SMP 17.1 Gedong Tataan which is still not optimal. The purpose of the study was to determine the influence of the use of audio-visual media on the ability to solve mathematical problems for grade VIII students of SMP 17.1 Gedong Tataan for the 2021/2022 academic year. This study is an experimental study with the population of all students of class VIII SMP 17.1 Gedong Tataan for the 2021/2022 academic year and a sample of two classes, namely class VIII-B which amounts to 20 students as an experimental class and class VIII-C which amounts to 19 students as a control class. The sample was taken using the Cluster Random Sampling technique. Variable measurement uses a test in the form of an essay as many as five questions that are first tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis is used to test hypotheses using t-tests. From the results of hypothesis testing using the formula t-hit the value t-hit = 3.46. From the t distribution table at a significant level of 5% it is known that t-daf = 1.68 means that t-hit > t-daf, namely 3.46 > 1.68 so that it can be concluded that there is an influence of the use of audio-visual media on the mathematics problem solving ability of grade VIII students in the Even Semester of SMP 17.1 Gedong Tataan For the 2021/2022 Academic Year.
