PENGARUH MODEL PROBLEM BASED LEARNING (PBL) TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH MATEMATIKA SISWA KELAS VIII SEMESTER GENAP SMP IMMANUEL BANDAR LAMPUNG TAHUN PELAJARAN 2020/2021

The problem in this study is related to the not yet optimal mathematical problem solving ability of students. Therefore, the purpose of the study was to analyze the average difference in mathematical problem solving abilities using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model with those using the Conventional model in class VIII students in the even semester of SMP Immanuel Bandar Lampung in the 2020/2021 school year. The study used experimental methods, as well as data analysis using parametric statistics in the form of t-test. The research population was all students of class VIII SMP Immanuel Bandar Lampung which consisted of 4 classes with a total of 92 students, while the sample was taken 2 classes, namely class VIII B as the experimental class which amounted to 23 students, and class VIII A as the control class which amounted to 24 students. The sample was taken using the Cluster Random Sampling technique. Students' mathematical problem solving ability is measured by a test in the form of an essay as many as 5 questions which have been tested for validity and reliability. From the results of hypothesis testing using the statistical formula t-test, the value of t = 4,46 is obtained. From the t distribution table at a significant level of 5%, it is known that t = t(1-α)= 1,68 meaning t > t which is 4,46 > 1,68 so it can be concluded that "There is an effect of Problem Based Learning (PBL) model ) On the Mathematics Problem Solving Ability of Class VIII Even Semester SMP Immanuel Bandar Lampung for the 2020/2021 academic year". This situation is also seen from the average value of students' mathematical problem solving abilities where the experimental class has an average value of 74,35 which is higher than the control class which has an average value of 48,96.
