Abstract

This research examines problems related to the mathematical problem solving ability of eighth grade students of UPT SMP Negeri 34 Bandar Lampung which is still not optimal. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of Group Investigation (GI) on the mathematical problem solving ability of eighth grade students in Odd Semester UPT SMP Negeri 34 Bandar Lampung in the 2021/2022 academic year. This research is an experimental study with a population of all students of class VIII UPT SMP Negeri 34 Bandar Lampung in the academic year 2020/2021 and a sample of two class VIII D, totaling 30 students as the experimental class and VIII C, totaling 30 students as the control class. The sample was taken using the Cluster Random Sampling technique with a lottery procedure. The measurement of the variables used an essay-shaped test of 5 questions which were first tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was used to test the hypothesis using t-test. From the results of testing the hypothesis by using the formula obtained the value of  . From the t distribution table at a significant level of 5%, it is known that  the meaning  yaitu 5,40 > 1,67, so it can be concluded that "there is an influence of the Group Investigation (GI) model on the mathematical problem solving ability of eighth grade students of Odd Semester UPT SMP Negeri 34 Bandar Lampung Year Lesson 2021/2022”.
